Take the day, or even better, stay for a night or a weekend (we can recommend excellent accommodation) to fully experience all that incredible Bruny Island has to offer.

Bruny Island History Discovery

  • 7:00am pick up from your accommodation in the Hobart area
  • Head south along the old coastal road, gather fresh fruit along the way
  • Arrive at Kettering to catch the ferry, for a 15 minute ferry ride across the d’Entrecasteaux channel. Dock on the North end of Bruny Island at Roberts Point and head south.
  • Take in the view from the Neck reserve lookout and penguin colony
  • At Adventure Bay we enjoy a private garden tour and walk for an hour. Native landscape meets old English garden, historical landmarks, a tessellated pavement and Bligh rocks.
  • Coal point or Two Tree Beach and stories.
  • Optional visit to the Bligh Museum
  • On the way to lunch at a family-owned winery with a delicious selection of local produce on the menu, we cross Mount Mangana
  • After lunch we continue south to visit the The Cape Bruny Lighthouse, built in 1834 to guide vessels around the most southern tip of Bruny Island.
  • Guests will be taken on an additional tour by the operators of the lighthouse at no extra cost.
  • Heading north, we visit the Bruny Island Quarantine Station and discover its amazing stories and enjoy a short history walk at Dennes Point before catching the ferry to head back to Hobart.

Bruny Island Nature Discovery

  • 7:00am pick up from your accommodation in the Hobart area
  • Head south out of Hobart to catch the ferry in Kettering
  • Arrive at Kettering to catch the ferry, for a 15 minute ferry ride across the d’Entrecasteaux channel. Dock on the North end of Bruny Island at Roberts Point and head south.
  • Enjoy a beach visit at Coal Point or Two Tree Beach, where you will hear stories about the history and environment of Bruny.
  • Take one of several walks (3 hours return)
    • Marvista rainforest walk
    • Mars Bluff
    • Fluted Cape
    • Labillardiere Peninsula Circuit (6 hours, 15km, moderate) coastal views

  • For lunch enjoy either a picnic on our walk or a sit-down lunch at a family-owned winery with a delicious selection of local produce on the menu
  • Visit Inala Jurassic Gondwana Garden which is a must with a diverse variety of native and Gondwanan flora, a special museum collection of fossils, shells, Gems and maybe an encounter with some of the locals of the Fauna variety, amongst their animal sanctuary.
  • Cloudy Bay, a wild and rugged south facing beach also in the South Bruny National Park, with a short walk to feel the influence of the Southern Ocean
  • Head back north, for a 4:30pm ferry back into Hobart.
